JPG to 24-bit BMPExact size, ready for e-ink.
Some e-readers, like the Xteink X4, X4 Pro and X3 on CrossPoint, only read uncompressed 24-bit BMP files at the screen's exact size. Drop in a JPG (or PNG, WebP, a pasted screenshot), pick your device or a custom size, and download the BMP. It is grayscale, dithered to 4 grays for e-ink; for a full-color BMP use a general image editor.

No picture that fits?
Don't see your model? Take a screenshot on your reader to find its pixel size (on Kindle, tap opposite corners simultaneously), then choose Custom.
Keeps just the person, pet or object on plain paper. Runs on your device; the first use is a one-time 59 MB download.
Lower strength keeps soft edges like hair and fur. Keep background fades the old background in instead of erasing it.
Fine-tune
CrossPoint / CrossInk: copy sleep.bmp to the root of the SD card (or several BMPs into a folder named .sleep), then Settings → Display → Sleep Screen → Custom.
Stock firmware: copy the BMP to any folder on the card. On the reader, Open Folder → pick the image → tap the preview → Set as Power-off Screen.

How it works
1Drop in a JPG
Or a PNG or WebP, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl/Cmd + V. Up to 20 at once.
2Pick the size
Xteink X4 and X4 Pro are 480×800, the X3 is 528×792. Choose Custom size for any other width and height.
3Download the BMP
An uncompressed 24-bit BMP (BI_RGB, no RLE), the most widely readable kind. Several pictures come as one zip.
Where the BMP goes
On CrossPoint, name it sleep.bmp and put it in the root of the SD card, or put several in a .sleep folder for a random one each time; then set Settings → Display → Sleep Screen to Custom. On Xteink's stock firmware, open it from the file browser and set it as the power-off screen. The step-by-step guide covers both.
Common questions
›What is a 24-bit BMP?
A bitmap that stores every pixel as 3 bytes (blue, green, red) with no compression. Files are large, but any device can read them without a decoder, which is why small e-readers and microcontrollers ask for it.
›Is the BMP in color?
No. This converter is built for e-ink, so the BMP is grayscale, dithered to the panel's 4 grays. The file is still a standard 24-bit BMP; it just holds gray pixels.
›Why not just rename .jpg to .bmp?
Renaming doesn't change the data inside. A device that reads BMP will reject it or show nothing. The pixels have to be decoded and written out as a bitmap, which is what this tool does.
›Which size should I use?
The screen's exact resolution, so the device doesn't scale or pad it: 480×800 for the Xteink X4 and X4 Pro, 528×792 for the X3. For anything else choose Custom size.
›Is it free and private?
Yes. The conversion runs in your browser; your pictures are never uploaded.
